On Saturday (22nd) I got a pair of Firemouths. Each about 2 inches long.
I put them in the tank one one starting attaching the other. I called the store/guy I got them from and he said that is normal. That they have to find out who is the dominate one. He said to just let them be. I said OK...
I have a python vacum. At my old house it worked great. But in my new house there isnt as much suction. So its a real pain to suck suff other than water out of the tank.
I've tried that water level at many differant spots and I've noticed the least amount of noise is if the water lever just touches the out spout. IF I cover the out sput completly the noise is louder and I water water splashing out and onto my light fixture.
okay so here is my pic
it show the water coming under the bio-wheel, the wheel rotating, the water being lefted up by the wheel, then falling off the wheel, and causing a splash, thus making the noise.
when you say there will always be a water sounds, do you mean water being lifted up by the wheel and falling down?
Cuz I also hear the water sound from the motor, and that sound is fine by me, it doesnt bother me.
But the water falling off the wheel is not soothing to me, its driving me...

and as you may have read it is very loud after having it for a week, so I'll give it another week and see if it gets quiter. If not I was looking at this...
I just talked to the pet store and she said that since I dont have any fish in the tank yet there isnt "stuff" on the bio-wheel. and she said once I add fish, the wheel splashing should quitet down.
And as asked above, I've tried the water level and differant levels and still have the same...
