My snail is floating - but he's not dead

I have a snail in my tank that started floating more than week ago. When I take him out, he doesn't smell bad, and if I touch his foot, he retracts; so I can tell that he's alive. But if he doesn't eat something soon, then I'm sure he'll die. What can I do? Thanks! j

Fish gather in the corner of the tank...

well, I keep it at a steady 80 degrees, and they're not gathering at the heater. The nitrite level is fine, and the PH is good, but those are the only two test kits I have... Also, I did a 30% PWC today, but they're still hudding... sometimes. Other times, they're active as usual. I'll keep...

How do you know when a snail is dead?

Yeah, I was surprised that when I touched his foot, he still didn't retract. I guess he' sjust tough like that :). But I acclimated him to the water like any other fish, i put the bag in the water for about 20 minutes, and then dropped him in. I'm not very sure what kind of snail he is, I...

How do you know when a snail is dead?

Ok, I'll just leave him in there. He was very active yesterday; I'm a little anxious about it because I'm going to be out of my office (The tank is at my office) until Monday, and if he is dead, I don't want him to contaminate the water. I'll just stop in on Saturday and see how he's doing...

How do you know when a snail is dead?

I just added a snail to my tank yesterday to help clean up the algae, and he was moving around all day sucking away at all the algae. Today, he was stuck tot he same spot all morning, and didn't move. Now, I just looked up there, and he's lying on his side right under where he was stuck all...

Bettas - Who do they like?

Well, it sounds like I'm definitely better off just leaving the bettas alone. I've always known that you aren't supposed to put bettas together and that they're extremely aggressive, but I had heard some rumors lately about people that have kept other kids of fish with bettas with no problems...

Bettas - Who do they like?

Well, I think that I'll just leave the one betta in there by himself, although i may think about putting a snail in there. Oh, and someone asked if I have a filter, yes, this tank has a filter. Actually, that was one of the main reasons that I wanted this tank kit, I don't ever want to deal...

Bettas - Who do they like?

I have 2 male bettas in a 2.5 gallon tank at work. (Yes, it has a divider) I'm planning on moving one of them to my house in another 2.5 gallon by itself, and removing the divider. It's obvious that one of them is more aggressive than the other, (When a put my fingertip on the tank, he flares...

    Common Newbie Pitfalls

Don't EVER change filters, or don't change them while the tank is cycling? It seems strange to never, EVER change them... (Honest question, by the way, I'm still a newbie :))

    New fighting fish!

I have a couple of bettas at my office in a 2.5G tank with a divider. I have it set up on a shelf at head-height, right next to the entrance to my cubicle. It constantly cracks me up, because people will stop by to talk to me and stand in the doorway, and I'll look over at the tank, and the...

    Greetings from Greensboro, NC

Hi! My wife and I recently bought a 10 gallon freshwater for the house. We both had talked about getting a tank for years, and we finally went and bought one from Aquamain's Fish World here in town. (By the way, they are a fantastic fish and reptile store; according to online searching, it's...
