RedSea actually says not to mix beyond 4 hours. I actually use a scale and weigh out 750g per 5 gallons yields 1.025 SG.

How do you know if you have copepods or if you have a good amount of them in your tank? I can occasionally see an amphipod or two in the back filter of the tank. Do you basically have to look at your water under a microscope or should you be able to see them in your tank, copepods that is.
