    Water ager dosage amount

Plus it's a private company so they're a lot less profit-driven than most of the others. Joseph Granata

    Water ager dosage amount

Then you've been doing it right. Yeah, I would recommend switching to prime once that bottle's done; I personally trust Seachem a lot more than most other brands because they have the most transparency regarding the chemistry behind their products. Joseph Granata

    Water ager dosage amount

If you add it to the new water before that water goes into the tank, then just dose for the new water. If you pour the product into the tank and then add the new water, dose for the entire tank volume (including old water). Do you use Prime? Joseph Granata

    Battling Cyano

So it turns out that a whole bunch of what I thought was coralline is actually cyano. I have quite a bit of actual coralline on the rock that I got to seed my tank that I just assumed the cyano was new coralline, since it did look really crusty and opaque. I was wrong. I just started a tank...

    Filterfeeder on rock ID

Yeah, I looked up pineapple sponges and that seems to be what they are. Thanks! Joseph Granata

    Filterfeeder on rock ID

I have quite a few of these things growing in my tank. Does anyone know what they are? In the zoomed in pic, you can see a "fan" (I don't know if that's what it's called) sticking out of it, which is why I think it's some type of filterfeeder. Joseph Granata

    Biting clownfish

Ok. Today my clownfish Julio bit me. Twice. I've had my hands in the tank quite a bit the last few days, doing various things, and today he was not having it at all. Every time I put my hand in, he would swim right up and start charging me. I was literally having a showdown with a CLOWNFISH...

    Copper and Inverts

I plan on doing one water change every six months with distilled water to counter the buildup of dissolved solids. Based on my evaporation and water changes, that should mean that nothing ever goes above twice the concentration out of the tap. Joseph Granata

    Copper and Inverts

Not really sure which subforum this should go in, so I'll just put it here. I use tap water for my FOWLR, and I was wondering if it's possible to keep snails or shrimp with tap water. I live in Toronto, and I was able to source a water quality analysis for 2013, and I found that the maximum...

    20G Reef Build/Journal

It looks really nice! My suggestion is (I don't even know if this is the case or not in your tank cause I can't really tell from the pictures) move the rocks if they're leaning up against the glass because it lets water circulate better and there's less of a chance of the tank breaking But...

    Oily film

I agree that it's probably a layer of protein. I think it can inhibit gas exchange, so I would say try to take care of it. Surface agitation (either by lower the water or with and airstone like mentioned above) will help to keep at least a portion of the surface clear of film by breaking the...

    Life Is a Life

I disagree with the concept that losing a more expensive fish is a bigger financial loss... The money is lost once you pay for the fish. Assuming you're not planning on breeding it or selling it, it has no more monetary value once you buy it - the only value is sentimental/intrinsic/etc. The...

    Material for overflow "wall"(?)

I think Marineland has them pre-made. Otherwise I would say use anything inert that also binds well to silicone Joseph Granata

    Material for overflow "wall"(?)

Just so you know, the thing you're referring to is called a weir :) You could put some holes at the bottom, but not that much of that water would end up going down the pipe - since the distance from the surface skimmer to the to of the pipe is a lot smaller, most of the water will come go in...

    Methods of cycling!

Edit: Oops, I don't know what happened there. I meant to just add the "edit" at the end of my previous post. Joseph Granata
