new clown tang added to tank

None taken. As I said, my comments were not towards you. I still have the hippo and others and they are in a 90 ATM with every intention to upgrade just as I did with the 44. Anyway that's neither here nor there. We are all passionate and we all have our opinions that others will disagree with...

new clown tang added to tank

I moderated nothing. All I did was make a comment, not about you but about the actual moderator that decided to not answer the question, but instead assume that the OP had a tank too small for the clown. As for you, hmmm who cares what you think about my 44. While I don't have it anymore, if I...

new clown tang added to tank

The OP's question had nothing to do with tank size. So why is it brought up. Answer the question or don't and move on. Onto the question. I agree with what someone said above. Possibly adjusting if a new addition. It took my Hippo a few weeks to even go after nori. even now it will only eat...

Want to do a HOB refug on my sump to start my pods

First, I guess you sump does not have a refugium section? If it does then don't bother with the HOB. Second, why wait 6 months? Fire that thing up now and get a population going.

    advice please

When I built my system I went with Dry rock from Reefrocks. Its the same and the BRS reefsaver rock and marco rocks, except its cleaner then the others, IMO. I used about 90% of the and a few small pieces of live from another tank to seed it. Its the best rock ive used and I highly reccomend it...

75 gal yellow tang what kind of tang are compatible to add ?

This arguement has been gone over time and again. There are equal amounts of success stories as there are failures. Some of us have given our opinions and some have told of our success or failures. It is for the OP to decide what he/she wants to do.

    Switching to Reef Crystals...

He is not trying to remove nutrients with the same salt. He is switching salts. one should never switch salts drastically, it needs to be done slowly. He is also not trying to maintain a certain lvl of cal, alk, and mag. again he is switching salt. There is a safe way to do things in this hobby...

    Switching to Reef Crystals...

The new salt will raise this parameters slowly as is. I agree re acclimating is a waste of time. I would start the WC's and when you are ready give a test of the parameters. Remember, depending on the type and amount of corals you add you may not even need to supplement anything, the...

75 gal yellow tang what kind of tang are compatible to add ?

To the OP, I have 3 tangs in my 90. The first to go in were a Hippo and Kole. They came from my 44 gal pentagon(yes everyone you read that right). The yellow was added several months after the 90 was started. They all get along great now, but when first added the yellow took a beating from the...

    Switching to Reef Crystals...

I agree. Someone posted that you should do 50% changes. that is madness. Switching salts should be done slowly over a longer period of time. IMO and how I have done this in the past is a gal at a time. in your case a nano would go fairly quick. Do a gallon every other day for a few weeks...

    Macro algae/copepods

Why not just use Nori on a clip. Thats what most do for tangs, angels, etc. Tangs will naturally scrape everything in the tank including rocks, glass, and powerheads. Adding nori to a clip is just a way of supplimenting. I have three tangs and a wrasse that eat about 1/2 sheet a day, and some...

    Copepods

Personally the best way would be to find some fellow reefers in your area and get a bit of macro from them. Most will offer it for free since they trim anyway. IMO reefs2go and pods2go are a huge rip.
