If I were you I'd skip it for now. Most cheap skimmers are junk although I don't know much about either fore-mentioned skimmer. Try without it and then decide if you need it. Plus, skimmers are noisy and if you don't need it don't waste the power...but if you can't keep up on your pwc's then...
Welcome to AA. Overstocked usually refers to fish/ bio-load as far as bio-load I think you're fine. I'd watch your numbers closely nitrAte NitrIte and Ammonia. I don't have experince mixing crabs and shrimps like you have but that is all I'd be worried about so far.
