I haven't checked the chemistry recently, but I'll do so. Don't know if there have been changes in our tap water. Thanks for your input.

Hi - thanks for the response! No, it doesn't look like sugar grains. It almost looks like spots on his tail have faded in color. Like they are very light blue against the darker blue. And again, only on his tail - there is nothing on his body. Is this the fish equivalent of going gray? Haha...
Our male Betta has developed white spots on his tail. There are no spots on his body. He is the only inhabitant in a 10 gallon, filtered tank. He's almost 2 years old and has seemed healthy and happy until about a month ago. He's been slowing down, and spends more time "hiding" in the foliage in...
I did research online before I bought them. There is SOOO much conflicting information out there! I read about the male/female ratio, but also read (even here!; as well as guppies.com - figured they would know, right? lol) that many people have all males without any problems. I definitely did...
Pretty fish :)
Thanks for everyone's help. I called petsmart. The guy told me the bigger one is probably sick/weaker like I suspected, and that's why the other 2 are picking on him. I did a 30% water change today, used salt, and stress coat. We'll see. Sick fish is back in the breeder box...
Better pic? What's the big swollen yellow area? I don't see a gravid spot like mentioned before, but this fish is definitely bigger and rounder than the 2 others.
I removed to 2 bullies to a large glass bowl while I do a water change. I can't leave them for even a minute with the 3rd because...
I let the "caged" fish out into the tank this morning. The other 2 started immediately attacking him. I put the other 2 in the breeder box for now to let "caged" fish swim a bit. He's not acting quite right I don't think. He just swims slowly along the top with his nose to the surface. He won't...
"Caged" fish won't eat this morning. He just swims around the inside of the box with his mouth to the surface but won't eat.

I'll try to get a better picture. It's hard with the mesh, but as soon as I let him out the others go right after him. :( If it is a female, would the others be "pecking" at her constantly? They look like the are biting. If so, guppy courtship leaves a lot to be desired haha.
How long should I...
Oh no! Lol
Here's another pic. It's hard to see clearly because of the netting. I think I see a pointy fin like a male (??)

Thank you all for the feedback. Angela - I am not 100% sure it's a male. I'm looking at it now and comparing to the pic you posted (thanks!) but I'm having a hard time telling. He (she) is holding the lower fins up against it's body so it's hard to tell. Plus it's in the breeder box so it's hard...
I went to the pet store and they recommended a mesh breeder box thingy that hangs on the side of the tank. So I got him that. At least he's not being pestered now. He's perked up since being moved to the box, but I'm sure it's just stress.
