Try some seachem flourish. It's a liquid fert and seem to work well for a lot of people. Good luck

Your ammonia should be zero.it sounds like the tank has not cycled. How long has it been set up?

I use pool filter sand.It looks great and the plants do fine in it:-)

Sounds like the tank has not cycled. You should have some nitrate reading in a cycled tank...about 5 to 10 ppm.ph level has nothing to do with your ammonia readings.How long has the tank been up and running?

Yep get yourself some flourish excel by seachem. I didn't even spot dose mine,I just doubled the recommended dosage for a week and it was gone.its worth a shot.i love the stuff!!

How about black beard algae? Would be nice if you could shed some light on what you think cause it.i had stable water conditions for a long time and it just came out of nowhere.

What are your water conditions like?don't mean to sound rude but the the water looks quite dirty

Can you give a brief explanation on what happens to the fish before they die?are they gasping for air?....sitting on the bottom? Etc
