    Going Salt!

From my limited experience, the one piece of advice I can give is to go with a sand base instead of coral. fewer crevices for the particulates to settle and you can have a wider variety of ground critters like sand snails (that's what I call them anyway) and some softbellied fish that like to...

    Newbie from Hawaii.

How about dry reef rock or "Reef Bones?" http://www.mops.ca/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/skus/rs/RSCS-00360.asp?E+scstore It will eventually become live as the bacteria starts to populate during your cycle. Won't get any of the fun hitchikers though, like feather dusters, etc. But then again, you...

    Do I have room?

Are the shrimp and crabs okay to add though? So what are you basing the statement on, the size of the fish, number of fish, the fact that I want corals in there as well? The anemone was not going to go in for a few more months.

    Do I have room?

Hi All: I am stocking up, have been running successfully for a few months (despite the leak over 4th of July). I am stocking up my future reef tank with it active inhabitants and I am wondering if I still have room for the following: 2 false perc clowns 2 skunk cleaner shrimp 1 anemone...

    hate to kill it

Get a Peppermint shrimp. I had 5 spots with Aptasia, put a Peppermint in there, and viola, week later, no Aptasia. Same thing as killing them, but at least it is part of the food chain rather than just juicing them.

    Repairing a Leaking Aquarium

You can take a look at Lowes, our Lowes carries aquarium sealant. It says aquariums sealant specifically and can be found in the same section as the Super Glue.

I'm part of the water leak club. Happened to my SW 55gal when I was away from home for the weekend, thank God for a pet sitter that knew what she was doing. Saved our wood floors, most of the critters, and LR. Bought a new 55 gal, set it up with all new RO water and so far no cycle, guess the...

No more Wal-Mart Tanks for me

The Wal-Mart in our area has an RO system at the front of the store. They sell water by the gallon at $.37 per. You just shove your bottle in the machine and fill it up.

    refratometers

I like Aquairium Pharmaceuticals NO3 kit. Only two droppers to worry about, no dosing spoons (i.e. Tetra) and easy enough (at least for me) to tell the colors apart.

How long for chlorine to evaporate

Above post is correct, you have to massively overdose for this to be a problem.

How long for chlorine to evaporate

Don't use too much Prime though directly in the tank if you are using it to take care of water that has livestock in it. Prime is not toxic, but it can and will bind O2 making it just as inert (i.e. unusable) as it does ammonia and nitrites.
