    Plants are Dying!!??

Just an update on my plants. Initially when I first put the stem plants into my new setup all the leaves wilted and died. I checked the water parameters and everything was fine on that end. Now, after about a week, the stems have all rooted and began growing new leaves. Also the colors of the...

    Plants are Dying!!??

Yeah, I think maybe the roots just need some time to develop. I noticed that there has been some new growth at the top and those leaves seem healthy. Also, I pulled up one of the stems to observe the roots and I noticed the smallest stub of a root growing  So, I'm guessing that it just...

    Plants are Dying!!??

In the tank I currently have 3 Cory Catfish, which I added today. But I don’t believe the fish have any effect since the plants were dying before hand. So the lights are on at full for only about 6-7 hours daily. It has a 24-hour day cycle. So it slowly raises to full at about noon, and then...

    Plants are Dying!!??

Hello all. Recently, I have just started my first planted aquarium. I have always wanted a planted aquarium because of all the benefits and the more natural look it provides. I did plenty of research on how to go about starting and everything that I needed and felt that I was well prepared to...

    New growth in tank

Do you have any idea where it could have come from, since I never had that particular plant in the start of my aquarium.

    New growth in tank

I have a planted aquarium with some dwarf hairgrass, Java moss, and rotala wallichii in my tank. Just recently I noticed some leaves in the surface of the water that doesn't really seem like any of the other plants. It closely resembles the Java moss but I'm not sure. It's just a clump of...

Pros and Cons to an Underwater Sandfall

I am considering creating an underwater sandfall for an aquarium I'll be making in the future. I would just like to know some of the overall pros and cons to having a sandfall in my aquarium, specifically the cons. I read on another forum that the constantly falling sand can be hard on the...

Missing Tetra and Dying African Dwarf Frog?

I believe my frog has chytridiomycosis. It looks like it's bleeding internally since his body is slowly turning red. I have just quarantined him and gave him some food, which he is not eating. He's just floating at the top of the water. At this point I don't think he will make it through the...

Missing Tetra and Dying African Dwarf Frog?

Also all my water levels are good. Ammonia and nitrite is at 0 and my nitrate is at 10ppm but I'm getting close to my usual time to changing the water so I doubt that's the problem.

Missing Tetra and Dying African Dwarf Frog?

I have a 10 gallon tank with 5 neon tetras, 3 zebra danios, 1 betta, 1 African dwarf frog, and 3 ghost shrimp. I had to go away for a 2 day convention and had no one to take care of the fish while I was gone, so I left them some extra food and hoped for the best. They were technically without me...

    Nitrogen Cycle Ammonia Issues

I've been testing my water everyday and I noticed that my Nitrite spiked and then began to go down a little every day I've been checking. Also my nitrate has rose just slightly. However my ammonia levels have remained the same all throughout. I'm not sure what is happening.

    Nitrogen Cycle Ammonia Issues

I never dosed the tank. I added some fish flakes and I have plants that decayed a little, so I'm assuming that's where most of the ammonia came from. But I removed most, if not all, of the dead plants and food. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Nitrogen Cycle Ammonia Issues

I'm cycling a new fishless 10 gallon planted aquarium. At first everything seemed fine, with an ammonia spike and no nitrite or nitrate. After a couple of days, I tested the water again showing the same results. I waited a few more days and finally noticed a rise in both the nitrite and nitrate...

Advice for getting rid of Fish

I like the idea of keeping the cory's and loaches for the new planted aquarium. I've never thought of it. Will they thrive more, cause all the fishes just sit at the bottom of the tank. It's a really boring site.
