messed up that the ammonia has gone down no nitrite spike but nitrates are between 5-10ppm. Wondering if it is safe to add fish? Edit: ammonia is below .25, nitrite 0, nitrate 2.5 or so.

Took me a while to get the hang of not killing the plants in my tank :) But it is just as thrilling as seeing your fish thrive. It's worth the headaches of starting out and getting the learning curve.

yeah if you want coral you will need a heavy duty light..... I am a freshy so won;t be able to tell you a minimum requirement for coral lighting.

wow.... I have a pot scrubby I had from another tank floating around in the new tank, and old filter/media. The thing just seems stalled.... but good news is that I did see a few snails so something might be starting to happen :) At least their poop will help.... wow not often you can say poop...
