- It all started with a carnival fish. I walked into the pet store to buy it a decent home and walked out $100 later with a 10 gallon tank! What started out as something for my kids turned into my own adventure. Lots of trial and error, bad advice from pet store employees and several dead fish. I recently ditched the 10 gallon tank due to the fact I was very limited on what I could put in it. I purchased a 30 gallon fresh water tank and all the supplies from an aquarium store. I want to learn from good sources how to take care of this tank and make it a success. I started cycling the new tank on 2/7/14.
