- I have had a 55, 10 long and 15 tall gallon tanks for the past 20 yrs, all freshwater. My last one actually started leaking and my kids got me a 20 gal for Christmas/birthday. I can't wait to get it cycling and get some fish in there. I'm going to try some REAL Plants this time, so any advice there would be great. I became quite knowlegable and learned some tricks regarding temperatures in my drafty house, and our FL climate. I have dealt with ick alot because of the climate. I have also learned not to trust come stores as parasites killed off a healthy tank at one time. I love tiger barbs, neons, zebra danios, mickey mouse platys, marble hatchets and cherry barbs. I grew a 1.5 inch bala into an 8 inch bala at one time. I had a juli cory for 12 years. It is costing me a bit to get all going again, but I truly enjoy the aquarium world and the characters the fish tend to show.
