I don't need a CUC? How do I keep the sand bed clean of old food and fecal matter algae and what have you?

I figured I'd buy my fish first until I read last night to get some clean up crew first. I was also told to get cheap damsels to cycle my tank. If I'm cycling now w no fish do I still start w them?

What are your thoughts on buying fish and inverts online? I get the whole not seeing what you get but some sites have a 14 day guarantee which is about the quarantine time or so I read. Anyways the stores here don't have what I want I just want your thoughts

I was told it was a 30gal which I'm guessing is 29.ii did not weigh the rock but was told its 40lbs. My tank is taller than most I've seen. 24x24x12. Looks like more than enough rock. I'll let you know how the shrimp goes.

Well one rock has substantial growth and the stuff was handed down to me so I don't know if its good rock(I read something about uncured rock) like I said I'm very green at this. But thanks I'll throw a raw shrimp in I guess and give it a go. It just seems like my cycle had not started yet...
