I recently purchased a Sailfin tang at the LFS and have had it about 1 week. Today I noticed that there were all these white spots, almost like salt specs covering the fish. I don't have quarantine tank and am looking for suggestions on how to treat without a QT. I do have live rock in my tank...
He will eat any living creature in your tank, except for the fish of course. You need to get rid of it before you loose more than you already have...unless you just want the cc and fish in your tank.
chocolate chip star fish love to eat coral and other critters in the tank. These guys should be put in a fish only tank.
I had this same mistake happen to me one time. I came home from work and my starfish was in the middle of devouring my feather duster. It was a learning curve for me as...
I have a tank already up and going with about 50lbs of live rock (48 gallon sw reef). I have some nice little clown fish and a feather duster in my tank for now. There are colonies of little critters all over my live rock too. Would it be okay to add dead rock to this tank as it had already cycled?

FYI...I'm not one to take risks or wait to see what happens.
I'm looking at 75 GPD RO/DI 5 Stage Standard System - Englishfrom bulk reef supply, but it's 160.00 plus shipping. If I can get one that does the same thing for 69.99 plus shipping, then I would much rather go that way.
I'm looking to get an RO/DI water system for waters changes. Any suggestions on good quality brands. I want one that is dependable, easy to change filters, and will last a long time...basically one that won't give me problems down the road.
There isn't any way I can slow down the flow. The water has to trickle down through my ceramic bio media which is in the 1st chamber, and then I have my carbon in the 2nd chamber of 3 total chambers. Should I not run carbon at all in my canister filter? I haven't had any problems in the past...
ccCapt-
yeah, the article that pat linked def. made my head spin. I learned a lot about how carbon works, through I probably need to read those articles a dozen times or so to really understand the science.
I think I'll try out the bulk reef supply for a bit. Any suggestions for a media bag...
