I disagree with this stocking. A 15 gallon/54liter aquarium is not enough space for 2 schooling fish. (I have 6 cpds and some shrimp in mine and that is the upper limit imo).
Keep a 7 school and some otos.
Livebearers need different parameters than Tetras so that def would not work
You will generally only add filter floss if you want to remove particles. That is probably what is lowering your flow.
You can clean all media in tank water
Just put some filter floss on the intake and you should be fine.
How much you vacuum depends entirely on your stocking. In some tanks especially heavily planted ones I might vacuum once every 3-4 months, but for others every month
Try to add the old media since it may have a lot of inactive bacteria...
Other than that what you said is your best bet...
If you are going to buy bacteria get the live kind not the inactive kind..
Anything more than 0.5 ppm of ammonia can cause long term damage. But it takes double the time to cycle with ammonia under 2-3. Also with a heavy bioload you will need to do water changes every two or one day.
Adding fish before cycling is cruel and can cause long term damage to their internal organs. I would reccomend removing the fish from the tank. If you want to do the fish cycle method use snails which are a lot less sensitive to ammonia.
I am kind of confused, seriouslyfish says I can keep 8-10 chilli rasboras on my 54L/15g tank while it is only 40% stocked on aqadvisor. How many can I keep without pushing the limit? 300L/h filter(eheim 2008)
