    Rebuilding 180gal, questions and guidance

So I picked up a 180 VIV rimless tank recently but it had a few cracks and I added my own bigger one on the bottom (pictures below). My idea was to flip the major damaged panel 180 to get the bigger chip on the top and have the minor chip on the bottom. Looking at how the chip is, I would...

    Lights causing Cloudy Water

So I finally figured out what is causing my white cloudy water issue, and its my lights. Backstory- Setup a 90gal tank back in november, in feb my water was still cloudy and everyone thought it was still cycling. I upgraded to a Fluval FX4 in Feb and followed the cycling process. The water...

Cloudy water issues in large tank

So as an update i just left the tank since the post and added more sponge that the website suggested. The cloudy water got terrible before it got better, so bad you couldn't see 6 inches into it. I turned off the lights and just let it do it's thing. About a week ago it got super clear and i...

Cloudy water issues in large tank

PH is 7.6 most of the time. Fishwonders link is good information and you should look at it. I do wish their tests were a bit better documented about setup, testing, and then results. Most of it is short on setup and then just goes over results. More pictures wouldve been great too.

Cloudy water issues in large tank

Interesting read and this is the only article that I've seen that states the filter should run 3 months to clean up the bloom. I have plenty of "brown gunk" in the filter as is but with plenty of room for more. So it's possible i would just let it be in auto pilot longer and not do sponge rinses...

Cloudy water issues in large tank

Hey guys, I recently (end of November) moved my 40gal contents over to a 90 gal tank. Since then I haven't been able to get clear water in the tank and wanted to see what you all thought. Its white cloudy which I thought mightve been a bacterial bloom but its 3 months later and hasnt gotten...

    Tank question

It will hold it just fine. The top platform will distribute the weight of the tank along the stand.

    5 gallon

If you want something a bit more interesting imo get some rasboras. You could do 3-4 galaxy rasboras or about 4-5 phoenix rasboras

What is this weird stuff in my tank?

The fact that he is that old and has been in a 3gal is the saddest thing ive read in a long time. But it is a decent sign that you at least stay on top of water changes. Please upgrade that tank as soon as possible and research how to properly care for your fish. That fish needs a min of 20gal...

Nano fish in a 55 gallon

I have bosemani rainbow fish in with their juveniles (not fry) and some galaxy rasboras, no issues whatsoever on aggression or stress. Biggest thing to remember is to keep peaceful fish with other peaceful fish Also if you go bigger fish make sure they are either 5x the size so they dont see...

Fish all seem to prefer the corner of the 180g tank

Try more tetras, also get some cover for them to hide from the light. Overhangs or floating plants. Seems like the lights are just stressing them out and its not the flow. With such a large tank you could fill it with more tetras so they feel safer exploring.
