    Tiger Barbs turning redish

Pretty normal. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, <40 nitrates. Exactly what I would expect the day before a scheduled water change. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Tiger Barbs turning redish

I have an established 75 gallon community tank - Earlier this week we introduced some new Otos, so I have been keeping a close eye on the tank, but today I noticed two of my tiger barbs (one green and one normal) have turned a bright redish orange on their face, and the trailing edges of their...

Planted Tank Newbie - Advice Needed

Not sure about the plants you want to have, but I had a clown pleco that tore apart my Amazon sword and ate all the leaves off my anacharis. He did seem to leave my Anubias nana alone for the most part. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    High pH

Sorry - I didn't mean to imply that was the case. You just don't hear of a lot of people mixing goldfish with other types so I wanted to mention it. If you plan to have some goldfish in your final stocking plan it would definitely be a good source of waste. I don't know anything about goldfish...

    High pH

Don't buy fish just to cycle the tank. If you are going to do a fish in cycle the goal should be to keep the fish healthy so you would want fish you plan to keep long-term. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Giant Danio

They will get bigger. I'm not that familiar with a sump, but in theory it would alleviate the bio load a bit (require fewer water changes to keep parameters in check). But the sump wouldn't help with the crowding. You'll just have to observe them to see if they seem crowded or not. Watch them at...

    Otocinclus QT or straight in?

Thanks for the input. I've got a qt set up now that I'm actually growing a bit of algae in - in case I do decide to qt them, but I'm still on the fence. I've bought a lot of fish from this store and never had any issues with disease - never even had an ich outbreak so I'd probably be ok dumping...

    New Here!

I had a Molly that went into hiding for no apparent reason after about 6 months on the same tank with the same tank mates. She just started living in the volcano decoration. She came out to eat only at night. Each fish has their own personality. Sometimes you end up with a few you never get to...

    Hi Im new here n i have a question(stocking info 26 gal)

I disagree that changing all the water will restart your cycle. The bacteria live on surfaces, not the water column so your decorations, substrate and mostly your filter is where the bb reside. I wouldn't necessarily advocate frequent 100% water changes because that could shock the fish, just...

    High pH

I have high ph too and when I was getting started this worried me. I did a lot of research and nearly everything I found said to not mess with it. You can buffer it down a bit with driftwood and peat moss, but there's really not a good way to lower it dramatically without changing your water...
