Pictus can get pretty big. I wouldn't put 5 or 6 in a 50 gallon. I have 4 in my 55 and i feel like any more would definitely be pushing it. 3 of them are about 8 inches and one is about 5 or 6 inches, and they're very active. I would do about 3 or 4 in a 50 gallon.

Neon tetras definitely don't need a black light. There are some tetras similar to glofish that look better under black light but i believe those are usually skirt tetras.

When they are about to give birth they will be very square looking. The gravid spot will probably be dark most of the time you have the fish, except right after giving birth.

I prefer to not put the momma guppies in the breeding traps because it tends to stress them out, and if they're stressed it can cause them to either delay birthing or to abort, and I would catch as many fry as possible and put them in the trap. But if you want to put the guppy in the trap wait...
