As anyone ever heard or tried lowering nitrates and phos with the vodka dosing method? My tank has only been up since Jan/Feb and I can NEVER seem to get my nitrates lower than 40 even with huge water changes. I've got a 55 gallon with 15 gallon sump with 2 clowns and a coral beauty whom all...
Have a coral beauty and 2 clowns in my 55 gallon and would like to have a few beginner corals such as Zoas or Shrooms but I'm afraid my beauty will pick at them. She seems to get "involved" in everything in my tank. She is never mean but she picks at the hermit crabs and follows the peppermint...
All that in a 60 gallon?!? Way way overstocked. Right now in my 55 with 15 gallon sump I have a coral beauty angel and 2 small tank raises clowns. I may total add a cardinal, firefish, and royal gramma and that's it. The "Dory" fish is too large for our size tank
I bought mine pre-drilled and it was used. I know some lfs will drill for you. Also I know people whom have drilled themselves. Google it and in sure stuff will come up.
I added 2 smaller peppermint shrimp the other day and I had like maybe 10 hitch hiker featherdusters on my lr that have been there since day one of starting the tank. Literally the next am the featherdusters disappeared and haven't shown themselves since. Did my shrimp eat them?
I live in Florida as well and my tank is always 80-82 degrees. I don't even own a heater and that's with a small fan aimed at my sump. If I didn't have that my tank would be warmer
I'm clearly not a rocket scientist but wouldn't it be easier and smarter to just get the size fish that you know is suitable for your size tank without the worry of them outgrowing it? I wouldn't have a tang in my 55 gallon tank cuz it's just not fair. This all stems down to my first few posts...
Also affording a pool sized reef build and wanting one has nothing to do with a budget FYI. Even the rich whom can afford a pool sized tank probably don't want one. Has nothing to do with budget
Also whomever this person is asked for an opinion and I gave mine and have since offended you for whatever reason. I just know how hard it is to maintain and afford a decent sized tank being new to the hobby couldn't imagine anything smaller. Good luck!
