    Requirements for tanks

What kind of heater should I get for a 55 gallon? This is most likely the next item I am going to get. Any certain brand? Do the heaters go by size? If not, how many watts are recommended for a 55 gallon? Also, I have the sand. I didn't set it up in my tank yet. Does it matter if I set the sand...

    Requirements for tanks

I just obtained a 50lb bag of play sand. I'm guessing I need to clean it off before I add it into the tank. How should I clean it off? Will a 50lb be enough to cover the bottom of a 55G tank? By the way, I'm thinking strongly on going with cichlids.

I like the way you set that up. It makes it easy for me to understand with the format. I thank you for that and also for clarifying that fact about cories. I would like to try out sand but is it cheap and also good for cichlids?

I've done so little research on the corydora but I understand that they're scaleless fish and that a rocky gravel is bad for their skin condition. Is this true?

    Freshwater Predators

If I go with cichlids, I might as well make the tank a tropical-like theme to match their coloring. I guess I'll just have to handle a predator whenever I get a bigger tank.

    Freshwater Predators

Would an Oscar be an option I may have for a 55 Gallon? For as much as I know, they are part of the Cichlid family and are carnivores. Would this be a good fish to have?

    Freshwater Predators

I just looked up what a grass pickerel was and I would be satisfied with that. It can do 55 gallons? Are you sure? I'm pretty sure I saw an asian arowana in a show tank at a chinese restaurant in south jersey.

    Freshwater Predators

For my largest tank which is a 55 gallon tank, I already have an idea what I want to do with it. I want it to be a predator tank. The reason for this is that it's my largest one and predator fish usually require much larger tanks than the average pet fish for as much as I understand. What...

You can call me 'Mako' for short if you like, or, for an even shorter way, 'MP'. I will make edits to my account in the near future. Especially of the tanks which I have possession of. If anyone needs to know anymore about me, just ask. I am sort of new to the fish hobby so I can use all of the...
