Yep that sounds about like what it was, and yes, no fish are left. I have a big bowl of water now. Thanks for the help Flossie.

    Tank has unidentified illness.

It was not grains of salt, Ive seen a lot of different afflictions from back when I didnt know much and even dealt with some parasites I couldnt identify when I was keeping local fish I caught a few years back by using a dip. The fish dont react well to dips Ive learned, but its better than...

    Tank has unidentified illness.

So I picked up a 'all in one' type treatment for the tank since I really dont know what the problem was. But still, does anyone have an idea about how long I should let the tank sit before adding new fish?

    Tank has unidentified illness.

My 56g has an illness that spread through the fish rapidly, strange white lesions that killed the fish in a matter of a couple days. Ive never had an issue before that wasnt brought on by new fish, These fish have been in the same tank for at least a year, so I dont know where it came from. But...

    Dwarf hairgrass v. Micro sword

Microswords are slower growers and are more prone to algae, but are easy to grow and come in smaller blade variations to look somewhat like hairgrass. And the cories will get over it. But you will have bare area still for them under other plants, the grass won't grow under larger plants if you...

    Sunfish

Its not up to date, they are in a 100g. My goldfish and koi are about to go back into the pond outside anyway, but untill that happens I dont want to have any issues with the fish I already have.

    Sunfish

So my question is... Im heading out to do some crappie/sunfish/perch/bream fishing this weekend, and im going to angle for at least one hand or less sized fish and throw him in my tank. Is there any reason that I should not do this? Other than it might be illegal, check your local listings, blah...

I Can't Believe What I Just HEARD at My LFS!

Not necessarily, I still have 3 goldfish that ended up with a perfectly happy life after their dirty duty. Plus cycling a tank is many times faster this way, and if you check the ammonia levels like I do just as a measure of seeing what is exactly happening, If you have adequate bio media to...

I Can't Believe What I Just HEARD at My LFS!

I see that you think of that as a poor way to start a new tank, but really what is the difference between getting some small goldfish to dirty up your tank for awhile or just feeding them to something? At least at the end you can give the fish away being that they will most likely make it. When...

Goldfish poo trouble. Sorry its kinda gross!

I forgot to mention in my earlier reply, I use Aquatrol's Spirulina 20 for my goldfish. Allthough it is not a 'goldfish' flake food, my fancys stopped having problems like the ones you are experiencing and also the swim bladder problems that you may also see. I also feed mine frozen daphnia...

Might have to sell these, need opinions.

My wife lost her job a few months back, and things are starting to get pretty tight around here. So I may have to sell my planted tank equipment, and I was wondering what you all think I should put them on craigslist for. Ive got these: 175 MH - Mogul base, Magnetic remote ballast. 5lb C02...

Guess Ill be the first one to say it.. Let him be the food. But if you want to keep him, Frozen daphnia is great fry/small fish food.

    Question on Oscars

Raphael catfish are good with oscars too. Not an algae eater, but if the oscar gets the catfish in its mouth it probabbly wont do it again, and they have really tough skin.
