did you recently add any driftwood? Some contain tannins that color your water sort of like tea. Suggestions are to soak the new wood in HOT water with daily water changes until the water stays clear.

Update I have been waiting patiently and finally have a change in ammomia reading, down to around 2ppm. Should I start dosing now or wait for it to hit zero? Still no Nitrite readings though. 3-1/2 weeks in already. No new additions into the tank though.

thanks, that was the biggest challenge was finding something long/tall and narrow. I may adjust it slightly to make it sit in the gravel a little deeper.
