    Stocking 66g tank

Awesome! Thanks you guys! Elephant nose fish seem a little too delicate for my liking. I just mean that a lot of the meds that I have tucked away for emergencies all say they are not suitable for elephant nosed fish. So... Some pretty new world cichlids are the best bet for me. Any suggestions o...

    Stocking 66g tank

Excellent! Ok, plecos are out unless I find starlights (I have bnp's). Angelfish, not so much, I'm not planning on upgrading the tank (it's the biggest we have space for so black ghost knife fish is also a no. That leaves the cichlids. What do they need diet-wise besides the usual? It would be...

    Stocking 66g tank

Thanks for your response! Cichlids are definitely an idea. To be honest I'm shooting in the dark here so any suggestions of bigger fish that will do well in the big tank would be good. Throw some names about and I'll google them. As it stands, I have no visual image of what I'm wanting, only...

    Stocking 66g tank

We have several tanks but our pride and glory is the large 66g. It is currently a community tank but we've found that we enjoy our fancy goldfish tank better. Our thinking therefore, is to move all the fish out of the 66 into different tanks and put something else in the 66. What we like about...

    Hole in tail

Hi all, I've just returned from holiday and all my fish seem happy and in good form. I have noticed one issue. My calico fantail has a hole in the tail fin. What I mean is its not like a chunk is missing from the end, the whole tail is intact, but there is a hole in the middle of one of the tail...

    Off on holiday

Thanks, my usual water change is between 30-50% usually, so it'll just be the bigger end of a normal pwc. Cool beans.

    Off on holiday

I'm wondering, would my fish be ok for 6 days without food? I have 2 options, either throw in the tetramin holiday food disks, or leave the fish to fast. I don't have timers on my lights so they'd be off for the 6 days too. (Plenty of daylight gets in though). Going to do a big 50% water change...

    Have you been diagnosed?!?!?!

Ha ha!! I thought we were talking Malaysian trumpet snails for a moment! I have a 66g community, a 40g fancy goldfish tank, a (empty) 30g I'm looking to stock, a (currently empty but looking to stock) 8g, an (empty and incomplete) 20g that I'm looking to get the missing parts for and stock, and...

    Sneaking the subject--QT

I used to suck on the end of a tube to syphon. Regularly got a gob full of fish water. (I was a kid then - think 8-9 years old) but still, if you need to medicate the water for example, you want to be super careful! Is there really absolutely no way you can get a small sponge filter? If there is...

    When will sand settle

Did you wash your sand thoroughly before you put it in? If yes, in my experience, it all settled within 24hrs.

    Ghost Shrimp

I was under the impression (correct me if I'm wrong), that they can grow back missing limbs as they grow and moult. Don't know if that's rubbish but I know that lobster type things can so maybe that extends to shrimps too.

Upgrading from 5.5 to 25 gallon aquarium.

Are you putting the new tank where the old one was? Just thinking, a 5.5g, with half the water removed and a steady hand could *possibly* be moved. Or, take your fish out into a bucket, drain the water, move the little tank, refill it and put the fish back until you're ready to stick him in his...

Upgrading from 5.5 to 25 gallon aquarium.

You sound like you have a very good plan. Most definitely move the old sponge across - either into your new filter next to the new sponge, or put your old filter in along with your new one. That way, you keep your bacteria which can happily colonise your new filter. Put your fish somewhere safe...

Help Starting A "Tiny Monster" Tank

Depends on the plants. I have a planted goldfish tank. ;)

    Help catching fish!

Excellent, yeah I was going to do a 50 water change this evening anyways, not considered trying to catch them once the water was out though. All my plants are real and therein lies my biggest obstacle. Other problem is where to keep them if I do get them out this evening. I could set up my empty...
