after re-reading your question... i must correct my answer. i thought you ask how to clean a tank WITH SAND (as in cleaning material) you clean a tanks glass just the same way as if gravel or sand is in it.

you put a bit of fine sand into a woman's desuu (under dressing) and rub with it. OR use your gravel (if it's fine sand) between the glass and your own fingers. make sure the filter isn't running until you're done cleaning.

erm... yeah? that is the basic ideea or even smarter, see what simptoms the fish that died had, see what disease it had (called autopsy ... or in this case is it fishopsy??) and when diseases re-appear ... treat them straight to the target if someone would have a link, i guess i can try it...

diane, your ammonia turned into nitrates. otherwise it could not have dropped to 0 ;)) next step was that the nitrates turned into nitrites, so your nitrates stayed constant. from the sound of it, it looks like you're closing in the end of your cycle (full cycle) adding a few very resistant...

the way i know the cycle works (gathered a lot of info from different sources, so i will refrain from giving any sources atm) fishless cycle 1. you put in ammonia (5.00 or more) 2. nithifying bacteria #1 turns ammonia into nitrates -- note, when tank is fully cycled this process takes 4-5 days...
