Hey guys got a quick question for ya. Just added a few sea urchins to my tank as a power house to my clean up crew. I was wondering if my 1 foot long carpet anemone would eat them if they managed to bump into it? I'm worried they might meet a horrible fate and maybe even hurt the nem. Thanks!

Here is the carpet. He is about a foot and few inches across. The mouth has been shut all day!

Thanks bill. He seems to be getting acclimated to the tank now and settling in. He had me nervous for a bit because his mouth was loose but now it seems shut. How long did it take for yours to get settled in?

Hey guys I have a big carpet anemone that I purchased yesterday. It looked pretty good yesterday and this morning. However it has burried it's foot in the sand under a rock. I have read this to be normal however he looks to be almost retracting into the sand? Is this normal behavior? Thx

Searchin I actually just bought a carpet anemone and it looks amazing and is doing well! The situation with the mouth is the same as any other anemone. You car barely see the mouth when my new addition got settled in! I hope to upload pics very soon!

Same here. The past species of nems I have kept you want the mouth to stay closed tight and stay small. But from what pics I have seen on carpets it's looks as if you can always see the mouth and its hard to tell. Some pics the carpets looks as if it doesn't even have a mouth it's so closed...

Also you may want to invest some money into a QT tank of some sorts. This will allow you to keep disease out of your display tank by observing the fish for a weeks before dropping them in. ? Best of luck to you!

I would have to agree with this post. The tang has spots because it is stress due to some poor water conditions and low swimming room. Best bet would prob be to try and get credit for the fish. If you really must have a fish I would suggest getting a damsel of some kind and use that to help...

What light are you currently using? Has this coral come in contact with any other corals?
