Getting tank tommrow need to know what to purchase? ?

Many people would recommend dead rock/sand, also called dry rock. I purchased all mine from Marco Rocks, they are from Florida I think. Very nice rock at what I think is reasonable prices. I ordered like 80 lbs for my 55 and the sent me like 85-90 lbs. As for lights I really like Reef Breeders...

    New Additions, Good Placement?

Little update. My zoas are finally open for the minimum setting on my LEDs. And I have added my wrasse to my main tank last night. I was worried about him getting beat up at first because I did a water change before adding him, and my larger clown (now significantly larger then the other) took...

    New Additions, Good Placement?

Last week I received my order from Blue Zoo :D I got a Longfin Fairy Wrasse, small colony of fire and ice zoas, and 2 chalice corals, one about 3/4" and the other probably 2". Props to Blue Zoo if anyone is on the fence on ordering. Everything was well packaged, and arrived safely at more door...

    2 Clowns

Yes the clown that died was the bigger of the two, and I got one that is about the same size as the one that died, so noticeably larger. Any tips to entice a dragon goby (aka sleeper goby), he doesn't seem as interested in sifting my sand and the clown I have races to the top for food so there...

    2 Clowns

So lately the dragon goby (aka brownbarred goby) I have has been what I feel as overly shy. When I first got him he was shy and would hide when you come up to the aquarium, but would otherwise being sifting the sandbed almost constantly it seemed. But the past couple days he was been hiding...

    2 Clowns

I ran a jug full of my water (pre-change after the death) to my LFS today, he said it's basically as pristine as one can get it, the only think that is above NIL is trates and even that he said it is not higher than 5ppm. Not sure what could have caused it, but none of my other critters are...

    2 Clowns

It was just pointed out to me by a friend and aquarium enthusiast (I'm a little slow this morning without my coffee). I named this particular clown Coral, Nemo's mother....Nemo's mom died too.... lightens the mood a little

    2 Clowns

Woke up to the first dead fish in my tank ever this morning, my bigger of the two clowns. All other inhabitants seem fine, moving about. I had fed them last night, and they ate fine, she was active last night, moving about the tank, didn't appear to be swimming awkwardly. Scooped out a bottle...

    2 Clowns

Hey guys I've got a pic of some clowns I'm going to show you, I'l leave it as a link so it take full advantage of the resolution. Anyhow they are a mated pair of clowns I think I've had about 7-8 months? Hard to recall but a while anyway. Other tank inhabitants include a sand sifting seastar...

    Cyano?

It has been several weeks now, thought I would follow up with everyone. The Cyano is all but disappeared. I just stepped up some water changes, did a couple in close succession as well as one every Friday, though I haven't had time to do last Friday's yet, whoops. However I did not go with the...

    Cyano?

Guy at the LFS(the only guy I talk to there anyhow he seems most knowledgeable), who says he has SW himself, said it looks like cyano, except for the color, which he said the color is closer to that of the good (actually he said not harmful) algae, I'm assuming he is speaking of coralline? He...

    Cyano?

Couple days post PWC, and the patch has returned. I assumed it would based on what I have read on various websites. Would it be wise to get some more critters that eat algae and detritus? Maybe toss in a few more snails, another shrimp perhaps? How about a goby to help the starfish filter the...

    Cyano?

Here you can see how I have my PH set up now, hopefully will provide the lower front section of the tank with a little more flow. Suctioned up best I could the patch of algae though I did have to stab at the sand bed and kind of loosen it up to get it to let go.
