    Jebao Down!

Tunze is a name that speaks quality...well, it did. I have no experience with the power heads you speak of though- only the models from years ago, and those worked well. As for the Jebao products, you are not alone. I have had multiple problems with them. You get what you pay for.

Well, what I meant by obsolete is that they use a lot of electricity to achieve a goal which can be achieved with much less energy now, not to mention that those easy to get lamps are expensive. If you like the color better, then there's an excellent reason to use them. Some guys still think...

    Dary's tank!

...and a Happy New Year to all. I miss this forum. Not a tank so much.... ;)

Ok. Any reason why you think you need T5 or halides in conjunction with your LEDs? I've ran tanks solely on LEDs for years with no problems, as did/does many others, and could grow anything. It's just that T5 and halides are now obsolete, and I'd like to spare you the wasted cash. Are you not...

    Raised White spots on glass??

They most likely hitched in on the live rock or some coral frag. They go into hiding during the day...usually in dark crevices. Snails and Slugs (Gastropoda)

    Raised White spots on glass??

    They are limpets-harmless.

Halides and t5's heat the water about the same in my experience. How about at night...what does the temp go down to when the lights have been off for 8 hours? Are your heater(s) keeping it at 80 still?

The possibility of making the tank water temp fluctuate is the concern.

T5's will put out nearly the same heat as halides will. It's just spread over the length of the 4 lamps, and not in one small area. Both will need replacing every 9 months or so as well, which can be pricey.

    300 gallon "Outside Corner" Reef

Hey...just to touch on the wet/dry food again....I saw this post on FB, and thought it pertained here. https://www.facebook.com/PlanetPawsPetEssentials/videos/977227352352147/ Now I see what you are saying about the wet food.

    300 gallon "Outside Corner" Reef

LOl...thanks Dary. Santa got me my fist entry level Russian made AK actually, so no tank for me. Funny thing happened to a friend of mine though...he bought a beautiful 300 with stand and canopy for 300 bucks! He just bought it because the price was amazing, and he offered it to me for what he...

    300 gallon "Outside Corner" Reef

Possibly just the fear that there is something in the heavily processed food that you don't want. Only the manufacturers know the answer. I used to use flake and pellets here and there. I know the skimmate increased when I did. I didn't have to choose.....I just got bored. Now with guns, I feel...

What's up peeps? How's the most unforgiving hobby I know? Greg, I read that one in two dogs get's cancer- they attribute this to what they are eating. Don't give up hitting the supermarket for dog food. Trust me, genetically modified lab human food is probably much better for you ;) I am pretty...

    A canopy with taotronics?

Hooks and short chains is what I would use. Just low enough so I could get my fingers on the knobs. Either that or you could cut 3 rectangular holes in the top of the canopy and sit the lights on top. The fixtures will be exposed to a lot less humid air that way, and you'll have more room to put...

    Red flatworms

They will burn themselves out over time. I think people make them out to be worse than they are. They are ambush predators that eat pods. They are also somewhat photosynthetic. They perch on high spots to get light, like rock and coral- they do nothing to deliberately harm anything but pods, and...
