I've had cories before and love those little guys! So active and oh so cute! I'll have to see what kind of fish my LFS has in stock or can order for me.

Hello all! It's been a while since I've had a tank up and running (moved to a smaller house without a lot of extra space. Previous to this, at one point I had a 55 gallon planted tropical, that I graduated to cichlids with, then moved my plants and some tropicals to a 30 gallon. That was in our...
Hello all!
I've had live plants before and have a basic knowledge of some plants and how to care for them, not so much on lighting requirements and all. I recently got a new 20 gallon, and I thought it would be a good time to try a dirted tank. I have my soil, Miracle Grow Organic and my sand to...
Hello all!
I'm new around here, but not new to fish keeping. I've been officially back in the hobby for a little over 2 years now. I first started out with a little 10 gallon, was fortunate enough to get a free 30 gallon, then later on I was even more lucky to come across a free 55 gallon. I've...

I watched a few videos, one of them on had the ceramic media and no sponge, but I thought the one with the sponge might be better as it would catch the yucky stuff and help keep water cleaner.
How many of you have heard of them? Do any of you use them? I'm thinking of building one, maybe even two. I found a video on YouTube that uses ceramic media and a sponge that I really want to try (link to video below). What are your opinions on them?
Cynotilapia afra was honestly my first thought. I could be wrong but isn't it a pretty common thing for the males to have more egg spots than females on the anal fin? Big guy has 5-6 egg spots but its color is more female like according to the link I posted earlier in the thread. The bars on him...
The body color of mine now looks like the juvi female but it also definitely has the orange on the tops of the fins like the dominant male in the photo you made. I found a few cichlid groups on Facebook and posted a picture there as well, and one response was a cobalt blue zebra/rusty mix and...
