What would be a good addition to my tank to control green algea I have a ghost ribbon eel a snowflake eel and a royal dotty back they all get along well but algea is ruining the look of the tank

An I use a 55w uv light to control my algea? Will it harm the fish. Parameters are good but phosphate at 1 I'm working on that but can I use the light sparingly to knock off the algrea?

I have had a friend give me protien skimmer I have a 300l tank with a 1250 canister filter that's going along nicely. The skimmer does 500 liters per hour is this ok?
