I was planning on picking up a wet/dry filter I found on CL for cheap, but then I started reading and confusing myself some more lol. Do you run a wet/dry with a protein skimmer? Just the skimmer? I understand all of it except the filtration process, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I do buy this rock, since everything on it is dead, does it still need to be cured?

I'm buying some rock on Friday but I don't know how to tell between them all, does this look like it will work for my saltwater tank? It looks right to me but he's only charging me $40 for all of it, so I wasn't sure if it was just for freshwater or if theirs even a difference? Thanks

So I traded my Cichlids today and in the bundle that I got I received an ASM-G-1x skimmer, anyone use these and can tell me if it will be good for my 75 gallon tank? It didn't come with any info. Also got a Coralife turbo twist 3 uv sterilizer, are these necessary?

So I came to find out today that it wasn't the light at all the was making things look bad. I used some oil and put the blue background on today and wow did that make a huge difference rather than the tape I had on there. It's like two totally different tanks, I can't believe I've gone this long...

alright, i have a light and everything else, just not the skimmer. I'll probably pick one up tomorrow anyways. Thanks for the help

That's what I was thinking as well, just wanted to get a second opinion before i dumped it in there. Going to the lfs to pick everything up. Another question, do I need everything before I start cycling my tank? Like protein skimmer and what not or can that stuff come after its cycled?

Well I definitely don't want crushed coral or a bare bottom. I have a 75 gallon tank, I've just heard of people using regular play sand and washing it real good and didn't know if that was good or if i should go a different route?

I finally got my tank emptied and cleaned up, now I need to go and pick up some sand. Any suggestions?

I think I am going to go ahead and switch over to the t5's. Now I just need to find someone to dump these PC's on!

Alright so I found a guy who's selling a t5 fixture that is 8 months old with 3 10ks and 3 actinics in it for $100 bucks. I don't know what the brand is yet or if it's ho or not, but should I dump the PC's and pick this up?

Say I go with two 96w actinics and two 96x 50/50 bulbs, would anything grow on the live rock? What about two 96w actinics and two 10ks? Thanks for all of your responses btw, I really do appreciate it.

If i decide to keep this light, it appears my bulb choices are very limited. If i got two 50/50 bulbs to replace the 10ks and give me more of a blue look, would that in turn limit the amount of growth I would get? Also, when is the fan supposed to kick on, during the blues or whites?
