For Sale: Big Healthy Clumps of Java Moss

Once again the Java Moss has overgrown the little tank that it lives in, so once again I have removed this stored nitrogen from my 5 gallon aquarium. :thumb: This is a truly beautiful plant that is very easy to grow under even moderate amounts of light. This tank has been disease-free for...

Cheap alternatives to adding structure to tanks?

BBQ baking the wood dry is one good way to ensure that it won't stay underwater.

Accidently discovered a way to get rid of snails hehe

Duckweed is so soft and easy to eat that even plant-safe snails will devour it. Every other plant I've tried with Brigs is safe, but they'll eat every last piece of duckweed.

Free Java moss you pay shipping - baseball sized

I just shipped out a 1 pound lot (2 pound box) of Java Moss on Monday and priority mail was $5.30 for halfway across the country. I use priority mail because the boxes are free and it's relatively fast. This was enough Java Moss to completely FILL a 20 gallon tank. Just ship it with a few wet...

    Sponge Filters - EDUCATE me

Yes, you can drop a powerhead into the sponge filter's central column instead of using an air pump for uplift. The problem you might run into is finding a powerhead adjustable to a low enough flow rate for a 10 gallon tank.

Question on cycling using old filter

Just move the fish and the filter over from the existing cycled tank. The bacteria in the old filter will cycle the new tank in a day or so, and the larger volume of water in the new tank will allow a tiny ammonia/nitrite spike to be diluted enough that your fish will be fine. You would...

    Is AA compatible with Safari?

You would know better than I would if only 1% of your visitors were on Macs using Safari, but I would hazard a guess that of all Mac users, probably only 20% or less have downloaded an alternate browser. Safari comes installed and works wonderfully, so they have no reason to. By that guess you...

    Is AA compatible with Safari?

For the record, I abandonded this site for like a year while I was using Safari and have only now begun to come back since i switched to FireFox. "Less than 1%" are real people. :)

"Does a disease have your aquatic friends feeling icky?" "Has a disease snuck into your water world?" "Aquarium under the weather?" "Fishy friends infected?" ... and others. P.S. Please understand I'm really not normally the word police. :)

    This forum's subtitle

I'm just saying that the phrase "in a rut" means that it's the normal, everyday, boring, routine. A disease can't have you stuck in a rut, or your fish would all be dead already. A sudden onslaught of disease brings you out of your rut, albiet in a bad way.
