Okay quick question what are ferts and will gravel work as a substrate?

so i just need lights dont need to monitor the water or put any chemicals in or anythingl ike that?

I'm a former life guard so i went out and bought a ph tester and use that.

i finally got a ph tester and my tester puts my ph at about 8.7 is that good,bad? and if it is bad how would i lower it?

just a quick question if i filled my tank up with water from a water hose on a outside faucet would that still be okay or should i empty it and put in stuff from my sink and start a new cycle?
