Cracked the outer corner of my brand new empty tank! What to do?

I did a quick leak test where I put some water in the tank then I leaned that corner over the sink. I didn't see any drips or anything at all. Looking at it from the side I can see how deep it is, and it is maybe halfway through the glass. I feel like it will be OK if I use silicone or...

Cracked the outer corner of my brand new empty tank! What to do?

I could also use aquarium sealant, right? Ugh! I can't believe I did this! Is there anywhere that sells 15 gallon tanks without the whole kit? I have such a small space for the tank, I can't get anything bigger/taller. I found one possibility on Craigslist but it was used for a snake so...

It is GE. It says "Cured sealant is mold and mildew resistant". That's bad? I honestly know nothing about this stuff.

Cracked the outer corner of my brand new empty tank! What to do?

I actually have some clear Silicone II 100% silicone sealant, it says it is for kitchens and baths. The tube says it is watertight. Can I just use that?

Is that something I can find at Petco? Or Home Depot/ACE?

Cracked the outer corner of my brand new empty tank! What to do?

These should all be clickable... If I can just put something on the little chunk to make sure it doesn't come out, I think that would be good. I just want to make sure that whatever I use isn't going to hurt the fish if it should somehow get inside the tank. I don't think it will, as...

Cracked the outer corner of my brand new empty tank! What to do?

Well, the title pretty much says it all. I was cleaning out my brand new, unused tank, and it gently hit the corner of my granite countertop, and I heard a crunch. It is a small chunk of the corner, maybe .5 inch, still in place but definitely could be pulled out if I tried (I won't). I...

15 Gallon Top Fin tank, lighting?

Maybe I was looking at the part that said "This bulb replaces a 60W bulb"? I did find some low wattage bulbs, but none that had anywhere near 6500K daylight. I don't know. I can go look again tomorrow, I guess. I'd rather not buy online and pay $10 for shipping on a $5 bulb.

15 Gallon Top Fin tank, lighting?

Ok, after going to Target, Menards, the grocery store, Ace Hardware, Petco, and Petsmart, I couldn't find anything suitable. I decided to look online, and found this on a website: Great. At least that explains why I couldn't find anything at any of the stores. But they seem to...

15 Gallon Top Fin tank, lighting?

More questions! I've been looking for light bulbs, and can't seem to figure out what to get. The hood says not to use more than 25W. I'm assuming that means per side (it is an incandescent hood, with 2 spots for bulbs). The bulbs that came with the hood are 15W each. Would I replace with...

15 Gallon Top Fin tank, lighting?

Awesome, thanks! Wasn't sure if I had to find some special aquarium CFL bulbs or if the regular ones were fine as long as they fit certain parameters. The hood has some recommendations on wattage, so I will double check that and read up on what bulbs to get. My Betta tank is planted too, but...

15 Gallon Top Fin tank, lighting?

Oh thanks! Good to know! Dumb question, do I get them at a pet store/LFS or somewhere like Target? As far as what fish we are getting, that is yet to be decided. This is our (me and my kids, age 6 and 4.5) first community tank. We have a 5 gallon Betta tank that has no resident at the...

15 Gallon Top Fin tank, lighting?

Hi everyone. I just bought a 15 gallon Top Fin tank from Petsmart. It came with an incandescent hood and bulbs, and I'd like to grow live plants. Nothing fancy, beginner plants are fine. I just want them to grow! So do I need to replace the whole hood and get a fluorescent hood and bulbs?
