    predator tank

Could be... I've only got one at the moment, he and my Yellow Tang are buddies.

    predator tank

A very peaceful choice that can co-habitate with predators is also a medium or large Foxface Lo... They typically leave others alone, they are great algae grazers and their venomous spines generally teach the others to leave them alone. Here's some info you may find interesting...

Ditto on the single pair - whichever set you like best.

So how bad does it hurt...

I had one (added LR.com rock in Oct 04) and ignored it for quite along time. Then in May I noticed 2, and in April there was another, etc. Until last month there were 6 and the 2 largest ones were 8" or 9" in diameter. I hit 'em with Joes Juice 3 weeks ago, one came back and I hit him with...

    Can't get ammonia down

Which test kit are you using? You may be seeing a false reading. I find that anything below .5 can be unreliable - if in doubt buy an alternate brand kit, or take a sample to your LFS for a test. hth - Nate

    Mantis

If he is a smasher it is unlikely that it killed one of your fish. It wouldn't matter to me if it killed any fish or not - If I can catch the one in my tank he's going in the sump, or to another reefer who can give him a good home. Mine has already eaten more than his worth in snails and hermits.

    anemone

Alot of it will be determined by your tank depth - Rose BTAs and Green BTAs have been kept under pcs or vhos, in tanks of 24" or less where they can perch high on rocks. Tho admittedly they will fare much better under more intense (MH or T5?) lighting. I saw in your profile that you have a...

    Eclipse Six Reef Tank??

Even if you add enough life it is not a good idea to keep an anemone in a Nano. Nano's are cool (don't get me wrong) but require a significantly greater effort to keep your water parameters stable. Anemones likewise require pristine water quality, and stable conditions. Anyone's chances of...

Cyling need if seawater is used?

Beneficial bacteria are primarily on your surfaces (sand, rock, glass, etc.) "Waste/Excess Nutrients" are in the water column itself. Water changes get rid of the excess nutrients, and also replace trace elements as mentioned above. I don't believe that doing water changes in the midst of...

    mushroom help - anyone

I would strongly recommend placing them in your tank and watching them for 3 or 4 weeks before target feeding them at all. I have 6 (started with 2, 2 months ago) and they grow fast, and spread fast. Not that it is a bad thing, just that why add extra nutrients/waste to your tank if you don't...

    Algae Outbreak

diatoms... it will pass. echo nodoubt471s comment about RO water. That'll help. Are you feeding anything yet? Might cut back a bit..

    watts per gallon

That should support some xenia, shrooms, polyps, etc... If you haven't bought fixtures yet - check this out: http://www.reefgeek.com/products/categories/lighting/104198.html Go to www.reefcentral.com forums and search T5 sometime... I don't own one *yet* but they look very promising...
