    Betta's

I'm just wondering, I know that two betta males cannot be in the same tank, but is okay for betta's to be included in a community fish tank or must they remain alone?

    Question About Nitrifying Bacteria

To the pro's, will adding a dead store brought shrimp (in a stocking) help to keep the cycling going. It worked well for me?

    NJ water

I met this seemingly knowledgable gentleman at a Petco. He told me that if I did not purchase a water purifier than I would be wasting my money because the water in NJ is not suitable for a fish hobby. He also suggested that I add salt to my water because all fish need a bit of saltwater. Is...

Does that mean you can't have too much dechlorinator?

    A sand question

Thanks for the info. I'll look around some more for the pool filter sand and if I can't find that I'll go with the All purpose. I'm anxious to get started on my new venture.

    A sand question

My local store has both Quikrete All-Purpose Sand and play sand. Does it matter which one I use in a freshwater aquarium? I read that pool filter sand is easier to clean but I can't find it. Thanks.

Oh my! This is more complicated than I thought

Delighted You guys are awesome! I am receiving such valuable information on this site. In the future I will try to just ask one or two questions a time. I will exchange the filter. I am also delighted that I can communicate with people from around the globe with the same interests. Thank you...

Oh my! This is more complicated than I thought

After reading comments on this site, I've learned that the 10 gallon was ridiculously small to accommodate fish. I exchanged that for a 20 gallon hexagon tank and then realized that was also too small. Last night I went ahead and purchased a 35 gallon. I read that the larger the tank the more...

    Fresh or saltwater for Newby?

First tank Yes, this is my first tank. I have a fish bowl with a beta but that's it. I have always been attracted to fish and they do help alleviate stress. My husband had an aquarium when I first met him and he said that it's a lot of work but I think that filters are made better now and I...

    Newby with a small aquarium

Betta I have a betta in a small bowl. I thought that more than one male could not be kept together. Are they my only or best options? If so, I better exchange for a 20 gallon. BTW, I'm not sure if I want saltwater or fresh. I was told by someone working at the pet store that I would have...

    Fresh or saltwater for Newby?

I just purchased a 10 gallon tank. This size meets my needs regarding space and costs but it appears that I'm very limited as far as fish are concerned. I may need to reconsider and purchase a 20 gallon but before I do can you please recommend hardy, inexpensive, but pretty fish for a 10...

    Newby with a small aquarium

We purchased a small 10 gallon aquarium due to lack of money and space. I love looking at fish when I'm stressed so I would love to have colorful, hardy, and inexpensive fish to help alleviate my stress. I purchased the 10 gallon with a hood and filter that came with it but that's all I have...
