I have figured it out!! Since siphoning some water out didn't help at all, I decided to just take that one rock out on Saturday. After letting it dry out I noticed the same stringy stuff sticking off of it (a lot of it). Needless to say I didn't put it back in and my water is now crystal clear...

The only chemicals I have added was the Tetra Safe Start, and dechlorinator when I filled the tank.

My tank is cloudy, but the stringy white stuff is still there. Thankfully it has not grown on anything else. Tomorrow I think I'm going to try to brush off as much as I can and hopefully it will filter out and the water will clear up.

Yes I plan to do partial water changes daily if I add the two fish. But on the other hand I have read about fishless cycling and am considering it as well. Thank you for the article, very helpful.
