    Babies in my sump

Well, I’m a parent. I’ve got a 220 gallon tank with a 40 gallon sump, had the cabinet door open the other night and noticed movement in the sump. Looks like my acarichthys heckelii had babies, all of which are swimming around in my sump now. They range from about 1/2-3/4”, I’ve got a big section...

Just found babies in my sump

    Wish me luck!

Thanks, I appreciate it! Haha I contemplated rehoming these fish and dedicating it to a clown knife. All the fish (aside from four of the a. Heckelii) have been together for over a year and I've had no issues really. I think the lack of hiding spots and overhead cover is freaking her out a...

    Wish me luck!

I do too honestly. I just feel bad for the **** fish haha. They're so used to a tank with plants I feel like I'm depriving them of something now. The wood is all from manzanita-driftwood.com, I got three or four different branches and kind of pieced them together.

Post your full tank shot here.

Just set up. Still planning out some low light plants for it to fill it out a bit.

    Wish me luck!

Unfortunately it was a bit of a rush job and, halfway into my long drive back to my city with all my fish, realized that I completely forgot all the old biomedia and seeded material I had left. I ended up having to go back the next day to get that. Ammonia has been reading .25 so I'm just doing...

    Wish me luck!

Finallyyyyyyy. It took forever for me to coordinate picking them up from where they were being temporarily held. Got them acclimated and got them in there. I wasn't able to bring any of my plants along so it's pretty barren as of right now, but they're definitely seeming to dig the extra space.

Dangit man, I was so excited.

    Adding Sand To New Tank

It's just cheap pool filter sand from Leslie's Pool Supplies. I'm assuming it would work for most. Obviously the finer grade will cloud a bit more so probably let air out more slowly to prevent a huge change in pressure.

    Adding Sand To New Tank

Basically just wanted to share this simple method for anyone dreading the cloudiness that occurs when adding sand to a tank. I saw the YouTube video where the guy funnels the sand into a bottle piece by piece but this was a lot quicker. If you want to be extra safe you can dunk the whole bag...

    Wish me luck!

Well I got it! http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f34/Nigel_Koebel/IMG_2496_zpsjlyimdlp.jpg I just used the Bondo Fiberglas repair kit to seal the leaks. Have been running it with paper towels under the pipes and no drips. Going to work on getting my equipment from my other tank and start...

Inline diffuser that can fit fx6 tubing??

I built an inline reactor that I plumbed to my FX5. It's been running perfectly with pressurized CO2 for over a year now. Below is the thread: DIY inline reactor finally built http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333149

    what has attacked my fish

Getting a betta if you already have a fin nipper in the group doesn't seem like the most responsible choice. While it's not extremely common, neon tetras have been known to pick apart some betta fins, could possibly be them but it seems like you would have observed it. Are both guppies male? Can...

    HELP! I'm in a bind!

I used to post fish on CL all the time but anytime someone would respond, I'd end up just quizzing them to try and stump them so I could justify not giving up my fish. Ask some general knowledge stuff that will either show the person has some understanding of the hobby or at least shows they...
