    My poor ember tetra =(

Good morning, I found one of my ember tetras stuck between the sponge filter and the aquarium glass this morning. I took him out with my long tweezers and put him in my hand to prepare to get rid of him. Then he started wiggling! Right now I have him in a bowl floating in the water so the temp...

To quarantine or not to quarantine??

Hi there, I have a 29 gallon planted setup. I just went through an episode of ich with some cardinal tetras that I added from two different sources. All of the cardinals ended up dying, but none of the other fish died. Currently I have 5 ember tetras, 1 bristlenose pleco, 3 corydora...

Ick - Treat the whole tank?

I'm kind of thinking I should not medicate today. I've already changed the water and vacuumed the gravel. I don't know, maybe I should hit it one more time to cover the life cycle of the little parasite. So you don't use salt either? Just the heat? I will definitely do the heat treatments...

Ick - Treat the whole tank?

Unfortunately all of the cardinals perished. They were so pretty, darn it anyway.

Ick - Treat the whole tank?

I think it's a pretty reputable shop - They're well known, can I mention them here? So maybe medicate one last time today, let them go over the weekend. And then do a good water change on Monday to start removing the meds from the tank? OR, just be done with the meds right now and only do a...

Ick - Treat the whole tank?

Today is my 3rd full day of no white spots. I talked with the store that sold me the Ich X and they said that normally it solves the problem in 2-3 days and that 5 days is considered a course. But because I've had to treat for 14 days before getting rid of white spots that I must be dealing...

Ick - Treat the whole tank?

Well here it is Tuesday, 4 days after my last post. All of the cardinals did die, but none of the other fish. This morning I don't see any sign of white spots on the embers. The Ich X says to treat for 3 days after the last sign of white spots. An end is in sight! Question: I plan to put George...

Ick - Treat the whole tank?

Best to speed it up by heating the water and thus shortening how long I use meds or keep it the same temp and use the meds longer? Which is more stressful for the fish?

Ick - Treat the whole tank?

The remaining cardinal has a lot of spots. Four of the embers each have one spot.

Ick - Treat the whole tank?

This morning 1 cardinal missing and another on deathwatch. I netted it and put it in a floating cup. And then there were three. Everybody else continues to do well. UPDATE: Found the missing cardinal. It is dead. It was trapped in a nook of the spider wood. The one in the cup died.

Ick - Treat the whole tank?

2 more cardinals dead this morning. Down to 5. The cardinals are the only fish I've lost so far. Even though I love the look of them, I don't think I'll restock them when this is all over. The embers have proven themselves very hardy. I think I want yellow in my tank next. I have the orange...
