Where did you buy the plants? Mine came from plants that I bought. I'm not sure if i'm allowed to mention this forum but i've seen a lot of posts on Fishlore about these mites.

Oddly enough across a few different forums i've been seeing people posting about the same mites recently. I wonder where they're coming from. Have you gotten plants from anywhere recently?

I took the tank down and sold it. I only ever saw the mites eating detritus, dead plants and slime from the silicone. I won't lie; I hated putting my hands in the tank knowing there was mites in there. :ermm:

Yes, the ones I had you could never see move but they were in different spots if you left for a while and looked at the tank again. I have a feeling the only way to get rid of them would be to start the tank over, unless there's something out there that I don't know of that would kill them.

Water mites. I had them in my betta tank and I could never find anything that would kill them.

Did you drip acclimate them?

My Aquaclear 50 was grinding and terribly noisy when I got it. I was sent new impellers and a new motor which didn't work. Almost a year later and I can't hear it with the TV on but my Topfin filter is dead silent compared to this one.

They tend to like to explore where there is suction and small dark places. I think 8 should do well and not be shy. They like catappa leaves!

Just make sure you have a sponge on the filter intake. I see no problem with the opening where the filter sits.

I would do one larger school. Fish would be happier that way. What about; 1x angel 8-10x harlequin rasbora (or a larger tetra instead) 2x bolivian rams, m/f 8-10x cories or 12x kuhli loaches (as long as you have sand) Not sure honeys would do well with the angel..

Been thinking about a stocking plan, would love anyones thoughts. 1x bristlenose pleco 1x angelfish or 1x bolivian ram 8-10x harlequin rasboras 6-8x corydoras (sterbai or bronze) I wish I could keep it entirely south american but i'm not too fond of many tetras...

Definitely want to keep aggression to a minimum. Do you think i'd have more success with an angel or a bolivian ram (with the other fish in mind)?
