i fill my tank up to the black strip at the top.. no problems yet, the waterline eventually shows due to evaporation.

i removed mine very carefully with the fish still in the tank, i kept the python sucking away as i very slowly took out all 4 grates, took almost an hour keeping the water clear, then i did a water change, took out enough water so that the fish had a small amount of room to swim.

i had a bad green water epidemic once, i just went away for the weekend, the lights were left off and the shades cloese, and i turned my light on and to my surprise the water was CRYSTAL clear.

i was thinking of getting an old mini fridge and running tubing all coiled up all through it as much as i can fit in and having a pump continuosly pump water through it, im guessing that would keep it alot cooler, and to regulate temps if the got low enough i could counter it with an aquarium...

we get crayfish out of the local ponds, and they shed alot. i dont know why, but they always seem to die off after a month or two though

i had a UGF and it held green water. removed it and no problems since.

hmmm i might try it this summer, its not often that we get the law in the house..

would it take much to make a tank out of critters i catch around here?? i am a lobsterman so i catch all sorts of neat creatures, and i have a 55 gallon that i could eventually convert to salt.. it may not sound like a good idea, but i think it would be cool to see how the fish and crustaceans...

bacteria can grow very fast under good conditions, often times in my tank i will see a pellet of food floating around with that stuff on it, i believe it will eventually consume it. we grew bacteria in biology class overnight and we had huge cultures.

i would want puffers if they would puff up just out of fun, they are pretty cute, they look devious.

im sure if someone had advice to give that they would give it, i dont think anyones holding out. i really dont know too much about all the different species of fish, i just post what id like to find out, and what i know. i dont get upset if noone knows what im trying to find out.

my friend fed his oscar a feeder comet, and he got extremely bad ich, surprised he made it out of it, but that was enough to turn me away from feeder fish. we still feed them earthworms, and locally caught dace.

lol i wish my oscars were escavators, lol i love watching fish move the tank around to their liking.. know of any good small fish that would get along with my green terror??

if im not overstocked (i dont think i am) what is compatible with a green terror, a blood parrot, 2 rosy barbs, a suckermouth pleco, and some soon to be rid of convicts in a 55 gallon tank, and is it possible to get some live plants without them being destroyed in this tank setup. i was...

i dont think they sell em, but they are native around here...
