    BBA Help?

Okay, I can do that. Do the phosphates need to be addressed? I've read that high levels can increase algal growth. You've said in another thread that you've found the opposite to be true, but I'm wondering if 4+ is too much. Also, will the H2O2 kill the moss?

    BBA Help?

Help! I've been battling BBA in my tank for a while now, and it seems to be getting worse. Details: The tank is 15g, planted with a couple of small swords, one crypt wendtii, several crypt parva, some bacopa monnieri and a couple of vals. I also have lots of anubias - barteri, petite and...

    KH, GH and Shrimp

I can't seem to keep shrimp alive and I think it may be related to my ultra-soft water. GH an KH are both 1; pH is about 6.8. I don't want to add crushed coral because I'm happy with my pH where it is. I've been looking at Seachem Equilibrium - would that do the trick? I know it's just for GH...

    Identify snail goo?

I have a rather large mystery snail who is very active and appears healthy. Earlier today I noticed long, stringy stuff with some kind of dots coming from him. There was quite a lot and it doesn't look like his usual waste. Also, I saw him doing his biz yesterday so it's unlikely that he was...

    Very Soft Water

I'm only planning on Amanos and Nerite snails. I thought the Kh would be an issue esp. for the snails. Am I incorrect?

    Pank's Planted 55g

We can do it, it's just a giant pain in the a**. And way too expensive. The baseboard extends about 1/2" from the wall, so I'm not sure it's possible to get close enough. And my filter is a canister so I need a bit of room in the back. I did a bit of research though, and I think I'm going to...

    Pank's Planted 55g

No worries about the questions - you're trying to help, which is awesome. :) I'll give you all the dimensions. The back of the tank is 2 1/4" from the wall. Overall stand dimensions are 48.5" L X 13.5" W X 29.5" H. The floor is perfectly level in that area.

    Pank's Planted 55g

This is my stand: http://www.petco.com/product/119923/Petco-Brooklyn-Metal-Tank-Stand.aspx I suppose the studs are hollow; I hadn't thought of that.

    Pank's Planted 55g

It is not anchored - we have metal studs. It's moving to and from the wall. But it's not just the water - the stand moves visibly. The floorboards run lengthwise, so movement across the width doesn't make sense to me, but there it is. I think anchoring might work but given the weight I'd...

    Very Soft Water

Hi there! I need some help. My water is very, very soft - Kh and Gh are both 1 (tested with a reliable API kit). My Ph is about 6.8 and has been quite stable. I have soft water fish - tetras, etc. I have a mystery snail and seems to be doing just fine, although he has some cracks in his...

    Pank's Planted 55g

An update, but a rather unpleasant one. I have mentioned before that I live in an old mill building (this is relevant). It's about 110 years old. When it was converted to condos, they left as much of the original building elements intact. This includes the gorgeous hardwood floors. Over...

    Not another snail thread ...

I found a pond snail that I don't want in my tank. I'm sure there are more. I know how to trap them, etc. What I don't know is how to kill them. Assassin snails or loaches are not an option because I have mysteries that I want to keep and I'm close to overstocked as it is. So, maybe this is...
