I just re-setup a 120 gallon freshwater tank. Formerly my 120 sprung a leak. Manufacturer replaced tank with no issues and now I have a new tank. Filtration before was two Aquatop cf500uv canister filters (using spray bars) and two Aqua clear 110 HOB filters. Lots of filtration was on this...
Sounds like it will be a nice looking tank once set up and yes over filtering is a good thing in my opinion. Regardless of what advice is out there or suggested size of water changes or frequency, I keep 8 tanks at the moment, ranging from 3-120 gallons, mostly all live plants or blackwater...
I use many Seachem products, but haven't used these in particular. I don't often find I need chemicals of any kind in my tanks if I am diligent with weekly, sizable water changes (25-50%). Also, every tank I have ever owned went through a diatom stage when they were between 4-9 months old...
Thanks much, hopefully it will be enough. I just remembered I have some Seachem stability which I think it similar to Safe Start. Just was worried about packing all the fish back in and having ammonia issues. Some of my fish are at friends house and others are here in other tanks. We will...
Hello all, I recently lost my 120 gallon tank due to a leak. Ugh, what a mess, but caught in time before any damage to the house occurred. Had to tear it all down, but things are working out good. Marineland replaced it and I am getting the new one drilled by my local LFS and putting in an...
If it's not a perfect fit, I am sure they can work it right. I took my actually aquarium to them. You might want to consider that too so they can adjust the fit for it if needed.
Here is the pic. The plastic strip at the back on the left side is notched out in the back to make room for a mini canister filter than I ended up not using. The plastic strip on the back is two inches from the back to allow for equipment. I hope this helps! I am thrilled with how it worked...
I have a really good local LFS in town and I know everyone down there. They measured and cut it for me at a local glass shop. Not gonna lie, it was a tricky cut even for them, but well worth the trouble for sure. Is yours a 20 gallon hex? Each panel on mine measures 8 3/4 on the inner rim...
I found that eshopps makes some really small overflows, but I need to build the sump. I've never made one before so it's new to me. I would be worried about overflowing something (tank or sump) in the event of a siphon break our power outage since the system is small. So you think a small...
I am cycling a 20 gallon hex tank with a build for a nano reef. For mechanical filtration I am running an Aquamaxx HOB 1 Protein Skimmer (https://www.saltwateraquarium.com/hob-1-hang-on-back-protein-skimmer-aquamaxx/?gclid=CP65qKy7l84CFYKFaQodg1QC6A) It's running well, but my concern is in the...
Thank you Coralbandit! I didn't know this Overflow box existed! Continuous siphon? I need to read more about this. Sounds like a good option and yes, I am afraid to drill and not even sure it's possible since this is an operating tank with happy inhabitants! :fish2:
