I would believe the API kit over the strips. I've had bad luck with the strips and a lot of other folks don't like them either. What's the Nitrate level of the water going in? Even if it's 0, it's going to take a lot of 25% changes to get you to a good level. Each change will lower it 25%...

I've had no issues with my local stores. Most allow you to return fish that don't make it within 14 days. As others have said, just make sure the fish in the tank look healthy.

How did you test the water before the new kit? What was the last reading with the old method (if any)?

If everyone seems to get along in the tank, I'll get to more. The Tigers were checking him out, but not anymore.

It has the right whiskers and that's what Petsmart sold it as (for what's that is worth). I'll try again later for a pic.

It's a 50. The link for all the info is above. I think 3 catfish and 4 more bleeding hearts would be a lot of load on the filters. Good thing I just installed that 2nd filter.

I found a home for the Tinfoil Barb and I likely can for the Anglefish and the Bleeding Heart. I'm going to keep the Tiger barbs. They are more active and the kids like them. Any good ideas for other fish to go with the Tigers (beside more Tigers)?

Yea, that wouldn't be shocking about the Tigers from what I've read. I've never had barbs before, mostly tetras.
