I should but I rarely do. Poop still collects at the substrate if that's your question. Water quality isn't much of an issue though, it always tests perfect

Update as of 4-17-11 All the plants are doing really well. Even the rotala wallichi has really taken off. I'm very happy with the way this setup is turning out. More later.

Got it at petsmart funny enough. Don't usually buy aquarium stuff there but the background was cheap

Are there any fish in there? I'm surprised you would have any worms without a heavy bioload. Did you seed this tank from another recently?

Sounds like planaria. Annoying but not fatal as long as you keep them in check they won't choke you fish. Like a previous poster said a good gravel vacuuming and a few water changes usually sends them realing. Disturbed dirty gravel is usually the culprit ad they live under your substrate...

I appreciate the compliments on the tank, I hope you will check back to see updates of the finished setup(I feel I'm only about 30-40% done). Thanks for the boost of confidence!

Made the switch to a black background today, I think once my background plants get a bit taller the contrast will be excellent.

That looks like java moss perhaps? Can't see the picture very well.

Got some rotala windichii from my lfs today. It's in horrible condition I'm going to see if I can resurrect it. It would be nice to know I can grow more reddish plants in my aquarium for a little diversity. Any tips on helping my new rotala flourish?

Update as of 2-27-11 After reading a thread on algae i decided to give flourish excel a try for it's algae killing qualities. Id like to say the excel has done wonders killing/subduing the hair/beard/brush algae that was starting to get worse. It all turned bright red (see attached photo of...
