    What is a good nitrate level?

    Hi. i have a 65 gal tank, with externals full of bio balls and floss, living rock, skimming and a sulphur ball de-nitrator in line after my external filter and have had 0 no3. Also do 10% wc a week, only slight problem i have is my ph needs buffering sometimes due to the sulphur.

    What types of tang are hardier?

    I have had yellow and regal tangs together all my aquatic life, 20 yrs, i assume the regal is what you would call a blue. They are both very hardy although occasionally the regals will get white marks/spots on it, which never seem to spread and eventually disapear, it is not ich. The only advise...

    Glad you found it, are your lights on timers? if not, it could be they have been on for to long whilst you were away. I think i worry more about my tank when i am away than anything else ! pots

    nail in tank hi , had similar problem a few years back, luckily it was a galvanized screw, it was buried in the sand, so i used my magnetic algae cleaner to find it, and then renewed my polyfilters to strip an impuritys out and did a bigger wc than normal. An oxsidising metal is very poisonous...

    phosphate removers

    thanks for the quick reply, as i said everything is fine now. the problem arose ( i think)when i had a caulerpa crash in my tank, i had many types which i used to harvest so as not to clog my corals. within a week it all died off and i got the dreaded cyno. I think i ran low on iron in my water...

    phosphate removers

    hi , this is my first post, so be kind. would i be right in assuming phosphates are removed mechanically and not chemically, meaning they are a solid. If this is the case, is it possible to burn off the phosphates from the filter media. I have used phosguard by seachem, and had fantastic results.
