Thanks! I want to know how long he has to live to know if it's worth it to get this new tank set up I have planned. I saw some smaller prochiloduses in another fish store, they were abou a third of his size but already juvinile. Knowing the general lifespan on the fish wouldn't hurt either.

I've found that EBJD's are extremely delicate, they often fall prey to internal parasites, something that's harder to see than other diseases with external symptoms like ich, HITH, etc. A good indicator of internal parasites though is long, stringy white poo. Did your EBJD have any of that...

I'd suggest getting a new filter and running it with the old filter at the same time. Then, after awhile, you can remove the old filter if you'd like or keep it so you could get the most filtration out of them both.
