No, no other fish in the tank have ich. Have put him in the qt tank, turned up the temp and added air, so hopefully with really frequent water changes and the fish there for about six weeks it'll be gone as the life cycle of the parasite should be over. Thanks for your help and advice. :)

And yes, the ich appeared a few hours after I got it home and in the tank, it was fine in the lfs.

I got polyps about two weeks before xmas, same thing happened, but the polyps have only just started to come out now (I put it in the shade of rock right at the bottom of the tank) after three weeks. Even if it looks like its not gonna make it, give it a chance to adjust. Hope it did ok for you. :)
