I have some great driftwood with Java Moss growing on most surfaces. This is all in a 75 G planted community with four large Angels and a number of tetras and other small dither fish. The tank has been up and running well for 2 years. Recently, the decay of the wood has blurred much of its...
I don't know if it will effect sandstone or not, but a good first test for rocks is white vinegar. Rinse the rock then pour some vinegar on it, if it fizzes don't use the rock. This can weed out candidates before doing water test experiments. Be careful with sanstone I think it could be a...
Check out a book called " Ecology of the planted aquarium" By Diana Walstad. I have had regular planted tanks, but this book has changed my outlook. I just set up a new 75g using her methods and 1 month in the plants are great
I recently added some plants to a new 75G set up and found a few small snails. I am using potting soil under regular gravel for a substrate. All is well with plants after 2 weeks. I have however removed these small snails that must have come with the plants. I have a glass coffee jar with...
I Checked out your link, and the design is great. It seems well thought out. You should research heights of the equipment you want. I measured my store bought stand and it is 30 inches. My tank is 21" high. I am 5' 9" tall and can just reach the bottom of the back of my tank. It seems the...
I'm in mass. I don't breed fish, so I can't help you with fish. You should check out Pet City in Newhampshire. It is the best LFS I've ever been to!!! They have great stock and are always helpful.
Hello, I keep a 20G tank with 5 platys, 3 balloon Mollies, a Betta, and a Pleco. I live in Hamilton Ma and would love to find a good LFS. Right now, I'm going to Petsmart. Are the places in NH only salt water? Any help would be great.
While neons are cool fish, you might consider something hardier like platys to start with. Later when the tank is stable add neons. I lost five neons when my tank was new.
Cover sounds like a good plan. The reason there is only one fry now is the carnage I witnessed last week. I guess I'm trying to give this one tough little fish a chance.
