    Help me find a thread!!!!

There was a thread I saw a year or so ago where the guy was starting a HUGE reef tank....it was so big he posted a shot of i believe his wife and children INSIDE it after it was set up. Anyone remember the thread? I thought I posted in it...coulda swore I did...but all my searches come up...

    Phosphate Problem

You have no ammonia...which is very good. You still have a little nitrite, which indicates, if it's right, that you may be in the middle stage of a cycle or at least a mini cycle. You definately need to get some nitrAtes into the tank for the plants to begin using all the other nutrients. While...

    Diffusing CO2 thru Cannister

Injecting it into the output or return line wont do much in the way of difusing. Also, the impellor in those canisters are in the top so they will tend to build up with CO2 and airlock (happens when the impellor is no longer pumping water because it is turning inside a large bubble). May I...

    How to regulate Milwaukee Regulator?

Unless you have a check valve, a little water (a little is all it takes to ruin one of these) may have ran into the regulator when there was no pressure in the line. Also the diaphragm in these has been known to have a slight break-in period see here...

    When recertify CO2 tank?

Every 5 years. Usually about 15-20 bucks. All welding/gas supply shops and fire protection shops will ALWAYS check the stamp before they fill any cylinder, so don't worry about missing it. They are required to check and are not allowed to fill out of date cylinders.

    *NEW*Question for travis Simonson

On the Christmas list with the wife! 8) Well, I bumped the BPM WAY down yesterday as soon as I read your advice. Today is WC day so, we'll see what happens. I'm only gonna do about 25% and I'm gonna do it really slow because I have now gotten my tanks PH to 6.7 and the kh still tests at 11...

    *NEW*Question for travis Simonson

Well, I think I may have found the problem. My wife, bless her heart, (she hasn't had a planted tank before.), said she added a cap full of stress coat on the last water change. I was out of town and she couldn't reach me to ask. (my fault) So I looked at the stress coat bottle...

    *NEW*Question for travis Simonson

That has absolutely nothing to do with it. Look at the numbers. A ph of 6.6 with a KH of 16? I doesn't matter if I had used cups of soda, the numbers shouldn't be that out of whack. Travis' tank is almost 2.5 times the size of mine. I SHOULD be using TEAspoons to do my measuring for better...

    *NEW*Question for travis Simonson

See, this is really bumming me out. I don't understand it. I will try tonight to narrow the cause down. I know that the fish in there now , mollies, gambusia, and otto are all absolutley in perfect health so I just don't see the CO2 being 120 ppm . and I am absolutely positive i have No PH/buffer...

    algae+co2=?

What I meant was that plants are draining nutrients out of the water column so fast when they are at their best, that algae, which is usually caused by excess of one and lack of another, has no excess nutrients to go on. Obviously, this works better BEFORE the algae gets started than once there...
  15. Q

    algae+co2=?

It doesn't do either really. What it does is optimize the plants ability to take in nutrients and thus speeds up their uptake so that the algae, being much more primitive is robbed of or never gets a chance at the nutrients. When there is a nutrient imbalance, the plants slow down, and the algae...
